While salvation is an individual matter, exaltation is a family matter. A temple marriage is also called a celestial marriage. Within the celestial glory are three levels. Of course, He expects fathers to preside over, provide for, and protect their families. But the Master has asked for much more. Etched in sacred scripture is a commandment to “set in order thy house.”
My Thoughts
I absolutely love the temple. I love the peace I feel when I attend the temple. I have gained my own testimony of the importance of the temple and I loved reading these quotes about it. It is the House of the Lord. In it we can receive answers to prayers. We can make covenants and be sealed to our family in the temple. The purpose of the temple is to bring us happiness as we come closer to the Lord and to our families. I particularly enjoyed reading about how to make our homes more like the temple. Obviously they can't be the temple, but they can be filled with the spirit just as the temple is. We can make our homes a place where we can prepare for the temple and apply what we learn by going to the temple. I am very grateful for the temple.
