1. Elder Robert D. Hales, Waiting Upon the Lord: Thy Will Be Done, General Conference, October 2011
“Yes, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Then, in the dawn of our increased faith and understanding, we arise and choose to wait upon the Lord, saying, “Thy will be done.”

“Even with the shining examples of Job, the prophets, and the Savior, we will still find it challenging to wait upon the Lord, especially when we cannot fully understand His plan and purposes for us. That understanding is most often given “line upon line, [and] precept upon precept.”
In my life I have learned that sometimes I do not receive an answer to a prayer because the Lord knows I am not ready. When He does answer, it is often “here a little and there a little” because that is all that I can bear or all I am willing to do.”
“Too often we pray to have patience, but we want it right now!”

How you deal with life’s trials is part of the development of your faith. Strength comes when you remember that you have a divine nature, an inheritance of infinite worth. The Lord has reminded you, your children, and your grandchildren that you are lawful heirs, that you have been reserved in heaven for your specific time and place to be born, to grow and become His standard bearers and covenant people. As you walk in the Lord’s path of righteousness, you will be blessed to continue in His goodness and be a light and a savior unto His people.

4. President Henry B. Eyring, Where Is the Pavilion?, General Conference, October 2012
"Our feelings of separation from God will diminish as we become more childlike before Him. That is not easy in a world where the opinions of other human beings can have such an effect on our motives. But it will help us recognize this truth: God is close to us and aware of us and never hides from His faithful children."

Although His time is not always our time, we can be sure that the Lord keeps His promises. For any of you who now feel that He is hard to reach, I testify that the day will come that we all will see Him face to face. Just as there is nothing now to obscure His view of us, there will be nothing to obscure our view of Him. We will all stand before Him, in person.

6. Elder Neil L. Anderson, Trail of your Faith, General Conference, October 2012
“Peter later encouraged others: “Think it not strange,” he said, “concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you."
“Peter later encouraged others: “Think it not strange,” he said, “concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you."
These fiery trials are designed to make you stronger, but
they have the potential to diminish or even destroy your trust in the Son of
God and to weaken your resolve to keep your promises to Him. These trials are
often camouflaged, making them difficult to identify. They take root in our weaknesses,
our vulnerabilities, our sensitivities, or in those things that matter most to
us. A real but manageable test for one can be a fiery trial for another.”
“How do you remain “steadfast and immovable” during
a trial of faith? You immerse yourself in the very things that helped build
your core of faith: you exercise faith in Christ, you pray, you ponder the
scriptures, you repent, you keep the commandments, and you serve others.
When faced with a trial of faith—whatever you do, you don’t
step away from the Church! Distancing yourself from the kingdom of God during a
trial of faith is like leaving the safety of a secure storm cellar just as the
tornado comes into view.”
7. Elder Neil L. Anderson, Trail of your Faith, General Conference, October 2012
“By definition, trials will be trying. There may be anguish, confusion, sleepless nights, and pillows wet with tears. But our trials need not be spiritually fatal. They need not take us from our covenants or from the household of God.
“Remember, … it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.”
Like the intense fire that transforms iron into steel, as we remain faithful during the fiery trial of our faith, we are spiritually refined and strengthened.”

8. Elder Ronald A. Rasband, Special Experiences, General Conference, April 2008
In these days of worldly intrusions into our lives, when trials and difficulties may seem to engulf us, let us remember our own special spiritual experiences. These building blocks of faith will bring us conviction and reassurance of a caring, loving Father in Heaven, of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and of Their restored true and living Church.

Our personal journey through life provides us with many
special experiences that become building blocks of faith and testimony. These
experiences come to us in vastly different ways and at unpredictable times.
They can be powerful spiritual events or small enlightening moments. Some
experiences will come as serious challenges and heavy trials that test our ability
to cope with them. No matter what the experience may be, each gives us a chance
for personal growth, greater wisdom, and, in many cases, service to others with
more empathy and love. As the Lord stated to the Prophet Joseph Smith in a
reassuring way during one of his most significant trials at Liberty Jail, “All
these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good” (D&C
122:7).
9. Elder Dale G. Renlund, Preserving the Heart's Mighty Change, General Conference, October 2009
“How did they successfully endure to the end? We know that they were “distinguished for their zeal towards God, and also towards men; for they were perfectly honest and upright in all things; and they were firm in the faith of Christ, even unto the end.”

“Remember, more than mortal years on this earth are at stake. Do not risk forfeiting the fruits of the ultimate operation: eternal salvation and exaltation.
I pray that we may press forward with steadfast faith in Christ and endure joyfully to the end”
My Thoughts
Everyone goes through trials in their lives. Before we came to Earth we knew we would go through trials, but we also knew it was the only way we would gain the needed experiences to become like our Father in Heaven. We choose how the trial will affect us. We can choose to learn and grow from our experiences or we can let them cripple us. It really is our choice. That doesn't mean the trials are easy or short. choosing to make a trial a learning and growing experience means that we have a better perspective on the trial. We see it as an Earthly experience that the Lord knows we need to become like Him. There is always more to learn so there will always be more trials. As a trial ends we can look back on it and see how we have progressed and we will be grateful for the opportunity to grow. We should remember in our trials that our Savior experienced each trial so we really are never alone.
